Hello,
I REALLY need some help, I have linked to PC's together
using a Netgear SB105 Starter Kit. I installed to Network
cards into my PCI Slot on my Windows XP and Windows 95
PC's and then linked them through a HUB. Now
unfortunately I can see the computer files on both PC's
but I cannot see the other computers. (example: I cannot
access the Windows 95 from my XP PC) Now I have another
problem and if I could solve this it would solve
everything! When I startup the Windows XP Networking
Wizard it works all the way through and then it asks me
to make a Network Seup disk for the other computers, I do
this and then take the floppy disk and put it into the 95
and load it up, and then I get an Error message
quoting "The Network Setup Wizard is supported only on
Windows 98, Windows 98 SE, Windows ME, and Windows XP.
Instructions for configuring a Networkfor other operating
systems can be found in the Help files for those
systems." This problem keeps happening. I have checked
that I am using TCP/IP and I am. I cannot activate
Printer and File Sharing because I cannot see the PC's! (
on the oppersite computers) I want to be able to:

1) See both PC's and access them from the other PC
2) Share Files
3) Share a Printer
4) Share an Internet Connection

What's going wrong?
Please Please Help,
Yours sincerely from a Desperate Person

Run the Network Setup Wizard on the XP computer and configure it to
share its Internet connection with the other computer(s) on the
network.

Configure Windows 95 as an Internet Connection Sharing client, using
the "automatic" settings shown here:

ICS Client Setup [Windows 95/98SE/Me]
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/ics/icsclient.htm

While you're in the Network control panel on Windows 95:

1. Install "Client for Microsoft Networks".
2. Enable "File and Printer Sharing".
3. Click the "Identification" tab and set the workgroup name to
MSHOME.

Cheers Mate!
I managed to see all my things in Neighbourhood now,
Thanks. The only problem is, I went on that website and
followed all the instructions for Internet Sharing, but
when I started to surf the net on the 95 it was fine
until I Started it up later and then it stopped working
again! I did the whole thing again off the website and
now it will not work!

Please Help again,
Jon M

What do you mean by "it stopped working"? What were you trying to do,
and what exactly happened when you did it? If there was an error
message, what did it say?

Reboot the Windows 95 computer, then check its TCP/IP configuration:

1. Click Start | Run.
2. Type "winipcfg" in the box and click OK.
3. Select the Ethernet adapter, not the PPP adapter, from the menu.
4. Click More Info.

It should show these values. Report any differences:

IP Address: 192.168.0.x (1<x<255)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS Server = 192.168.0.1

Go to a command prompt and enter these lines:

ping 192.168.0.1
ping 216.239.39.100
ping www.google.com

Each one should receive 4 replies. Report any failures, including the
exact error message.
