I have two computers networked, and one of them is
connected to the internet. Both computers can access the
internet through the one computer (residential gateway),
but neither computer will connect with the other. I can
view the workgroup with one computer, but can't with the
other. all file sharing is enabled, both computers can
ping each other, they just won't access each other. At
my wit's end!

I couldn't connect on my xP machine at all from the get
go but the Windows 98se was no problem. Comcast was no
help and in frustration I inserted my system disc and
went to browse and to the lan folder and installed
against XP's wishes a (gasp!) unsigned driver for my
onboard ethernet card. I now have internet on my XP
machine as well. Hope this helps someone as I found no
advice for my problems anywhere using Google.

By any chance do you people have the XP Internet Connection Firewall enabled
on your LAN?
If so, turn it off.
If not the XP Firewall, do you have a third party firewall that may be
causing the issue?
