I have a home network (2 machines) and when I first start
up the host it shows info being sent in packets. When the
client gets logged it shows info being exchanged as
bytes. Why? Is this indicative of a problem? Larry

No, it's not a problem. Bytes of information travel over the network
in groups called packets. The driver program for an Ethernet network
adapter can show the amount of information transferred as either bytes
packets. That choice was made by the driver program authors and can't
be changed by us users.
