View Full Version : problems with internet connection sharing

I am trying to share a dialup internet connection between
my pc (windows xp) and my laptop (windows 2000). I get
an error saying that there is an ip address conflict and
that the host should be set to 192.168.0.1. and that the
slave is using the same ip address. I have checked the
laptop and it is not using that ip address and i have
also set my host to use the proper address. Any help
would be appreciated.

Don't set the host's IP address yourself -- that happens automatically
when you enable Internet Connection Sharing on the dial-up connection.
Configure the laptop as an ICS client, using the "automatic" settings
shown here:
