I have hooked up all the neccesary hardware for a network
between my Windows XP Pro computer and a Windows ME
computer. The Windows ME computer set up fine with no
problems, but the XP one will not recognize the network
at all. When I use Network Setup Wizard it goes all the
way through to the end where it says it is applying
settings, runs for about 3 mins and then says it cannot
complete network setup because of error. It does not give
any other information. It says you can edit network
settings manually, but as thre is no network
neighborhood, I do not know how to do this on Windows XP.
Any ideas?

To configure XP's local area network connection:

1. Go to Control Panel | Network and Internet Connections | Network
Connections.

2. Right click the local area network connection and click Properties
| Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) | Properties.

3. Configure it to obtain an IP address automatically.

To specify XP's computer and workgroup names:

1. Right click My Computer and click Properties.

2. Click Computer Name | Change.
