View Full Version : Removal of pgm from OPEN WITH
Jeff

I inadvertently added an entry to the OPEN WITH dialog
box (right click icon, OPEN WITH, select program from
list) that is invalid. I did this by hitting browse and
then clicked on the wrong icon. I thought that I could
remove it by just opening Window Explorer, selecting
tools, folder options and then file types. To my suprise
I cannot find the bad entry there. I even tried the
recommendation in the Knowledge Base - Control Panel,
Appearance and Themes, Folder Option with the same
results (btw-I did not expect this to work but had to try
it)
So, where does Windows store this information and how can
I delete this entry?
Thanks,
Jeff

Beware, he could be an email collector, and my send you spam, viruses, etc.
Otherwise he could just have attached the fix here.

Haha, your funny
why would i have a windows xp site then?
www.puppypc.com/windows/
The reason I wanted them to email me is because I had a lot of questions,
like if they were okay with clearing all custom programs for all files in
all open with lists. If thats okay, they can use the link below to clear
all open with lists

I never said you were, just that he should beware. (Get another email
address for things like registrations, possible email collectors)

All,
Thanks. I will give both of them a try. Every once in a
while I long for the days of .INI files when things were
easy to find and fix. Whoever came up with the concept of
the registry with more indirection and esoteric key names
should be flogged in public.
