We have a small network with 12 computers (all running XP-Pro) connected to
a NetGear 16 port hub that communicates to the Internet with a NetGear DSL
Router. The router address is set at 192.168.2.1 and we have all the
computers set to obtain the IP address automatically from the router.
All works fine but occasionally 1 of the PC's won't pick up an IP from the
router. It goes back to the private 164.x.x.x IP.
I've replaced the NIC card and this did not help I also tried "Release All"
and" Renew All" to try and reconnect but all I get is an error message it
can't release the IP.
All the 11 other PC's connected are set up the same way and work fine. The
only solution I have found is to do a system restore to a previous day, this
works but a few weeks later the problem returns
Any help on this would be most appreciated.
