Peer2Peer to server network? [Archive]

Hi ALL!
i have a peer2peer network of about 50 computers. Most are XPpros,
Win2Ks, few 95,98s. not connected to the web
I want to do the following:

get connected to the high speed internet
administer settings and user limits
share folders with limited access
perform maintenance(anti virus, Defrag, windows updates) on all
computers
connect to other site with 10 computers (currently on peer2peer as
well)
transfer files and share files for both locations,
backup files from remote users, as well as local to a central storage
disk
administer the remote location from main
and do as much as possible of all of this from a central computer

is there a way to do all of this?

Sergei - you'd get more weight behind your answers if you asked in
microsoft.public.windowsxp.network_web.

To get a clear answer, we'd need to know what sort of high-speed data
connections are possible/available between the sites involved.

To come close to what you want, you need a machine running Windows Server
(2000 or 2003--2003 would be better) at the larger site, configured as a
domain controller, with the machines joined to the domain--you will find it
difficult to get the level of control you wish with the older 9.x clients.

In addition, you'd need one or perhaps two nat/router devices, and a variety
of software, most of which could be free, but not all from Microsoft.

Ask in the other forum--and give some details about the possible methods of
connecting between the sites, and between your site and the Internet (or
between both sites and the Internet.)
