I installed windows xp and was talked into putting a
password on the dang thing. for some reason, the password
went on as an administrator password and for reasons
beyond my comprehension, the @$#%*## machine will not
accept the password in any way, shape or form. I am the
only user, and own it. I have not forgotten the password
as it is one that I use for a number of things. I cannot
get past the welcome screen and password box. help

Have you set up another User? If you did ,that user, although having
Administrator Rights is NOT "The Administrator". Also when you create a
user, the Administrator Account becomes hidden by default.

As you don't say what version you have, try this.

In Home edition, boot up into Safe Mode. The Administrator Account log-in
will then become visible.
In Pro, at the Welcome Screen, press Ctl-Alt-Del twice. A log-on box will
appear which will enable you to type in the Username "Administrator"
(without the quotes) and the password you chose.

Hi, Warbow.

It's not a simple matter of the Caps Lock key, is it?
