Brand new Toshiba laptop play videos and music cd's
fine. New law student so want to back up word processing
class notes to CD-RW. First ten times I did this, no
problem. CD writing wizard worked fine. But now, it
just says "There is no disc in the drive" when there is.
Tried using a brand new blank disc - still said same
thing. The discs I am using are no way near full.

Oddly, however, CD Wizard sees the disc as it will tell
me the documents that are already on the disc, but just
when I click on "Write these files to CD", then it says
no disc in drive. Help!

Check here for a possible solution http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=324129
or at Alex Nichol's primer http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpcd.htm

XP's built in software is designed to use CD-R media rather than CD-R/W.
While it will work marginally with CD-R/W you are better off using CD-Rs.

You will find that using third party CD Writing software generally works
better than XP's native software. Nero is a good choice www.nero.com as is
Easy CD&DVD Creator 6 www.roxio.com . A free alternative that plays nicely
with XP is CDBurner XP http://w1.878.telia.com/~u87812405/
