View Full Version : No Advanced tab in Internet connection properties dialog box

On the "network connections" page, I show two internet
connections:Internet Gateway, and "Lan or High Speed
Internet". I never configured the "Internet Gateway"
connection. I can't remove it! When I access
the "Internet Connection Properties" dialog box for that
connection, there is no "Advanced" tab, which I assume I
need to get rid of this connection. Where did this come
from? I have three other machines connected to the net
via a router and I don't use this machine as a gateway.
This machine in question is a new install, and like the
others, it's connected through a port on a linksys router.

When the computer is used as a gateway its normally because you're using ICS
(Internet Connection Sharing) right?....

If so......

Goto the Local Area Connection that you would of previosuly been using for
this and right click, then properties, then advanced tab, then uncheck
connection sharing.

Telos,
Thank You for responding. First of all, you are correct.
However, there is no "connection tab" in the properties
dialog box. The only thing there is a check box
for "Internet Connection Firewall". What happened to it?
This issue is driving me nuts!

Thanks for your help

The Internet Gateway icon represents your UPnP enabled router. If you
really don't like it you can uninstall it with the Internet Gateway
Discovery and Control Client in Add/Remove Programs.
