I remember reading somewhere that XP doesnt like to use
ME or earlier shares, i.e. peer to peer networks. Try
sharing a folder on one of the newer XP pro machines and
map it to your workstation. Reboot and see what happens.

Bogus. My XP HE PC has no problem with shares on my W2K PC
using NTFS, on my W98SE PCs using FAT32, or even on my antique
W95 PC using FAT16.
