View Full Version : Pulling all "available" signals

Apparently, when a wireless receiver exists on a system,
all available signals (maybe I should say broadcasts) are
received and indicated as available. As a result, my
neighbor's signals are shown on my system in addition to
the WAP in my home. Can I prevent this so that only my WAP
is shown as available?

I think if you turn on the MAC filtering it will block it. I do know
they won't be able to access your network which is what you need to worry
about. If you can see them they can probably see you. Turn SSID broadcast
off. You might want to tell your neighbor to do that also and it shouldn't
show up on your available list. ( I think )
The newsgroup alt.internet.wireless is a good place for more info.
