View Full Version : Remote Access Connection Manager cannot be loaded
Debugger

I reinstalled my XP home edition on a new PC. Although
the same configuration worked without any problem
previously, on the new PC I could never get connected to
Internet. I got the following messages: "Error 711 Remote
Access Connection Manager cannot be loaded", "A
configuration problem on this computer prevents
establishing an Internet connection". Any help will be
appreciated. Thanks.

Go to the Windows update page and get all the updates.

I just realized you can't get to the Internet. Try uninstalling your
modem reboot and reinstalling.

Thanks for the tips. The problem is when I am working on
the PC I cannot get to Internet. I have reinstalled the
network controller and the modem and tried all kinds of
tricks but it is a hopeless case. Also there is a second
problem although I am the administrator and XP was
registered and activated two years ago now XP blocks the
PC saying that I should activate again. Since I cannot
get to Internet I cannot activate and I have to struggle
also with that problem.

Yes I did, but unfortunately I could not find anything
relevant.

Have you tried starting the Remote Access Configuration Manager server?
What error do you get?

If you mean Remote Access Connection Manager service or
Remote Access Auto Connection Manager service, yes I
tried to start them and other dependent services. Result
is either an error message with a 4-digit number like
6801 (I got so fed up seeing it I did not even note it so
the number may not be exact) or a message saying "Error 5
access denied". But if you mean Remote Access
Configuration Server as you have written it, then please
tell me where to find and start it. Thanks a lot for your
help.

Error 5 when trying to start RACM almost certainly means the KB is relevant.
Did you try deleting the regkeys?

This Morning I made a completely fresh installation from
my XP Home CD on a newly purchased Maxtor harddisk and
miracle everything works now. Of course the moment
Internet was accessed I went and downloaded all the
service packs. Thanks a lot for the tips Ken they helped
me boost my determination to sort out this problem. Have
a great week-end.
