I connect to the world via a Linksys wireless network. I
only have the receiver - the transmitter belongs to a
service provider for my marina and it's backed by a cable
modem. I run XP-Pro. My symptom is that I get a good
connection for a few minutes, then the baloon pops up
that says "Wireless Network Unavailable". A few seconds
later, a baloon pops up that says "One or More Wireless
Networks Are Available - To See List of Available
Networks Click Here". I select my network and I'm back
on for a few minutes. This systems has worked great for
several months - these problems have just started.

I have the latest driver for my Linksys WUSB11 ver 2.5,
and I have the latest fixes for XP issues 810020 and
328647.

Any help would be appreciated/

Both the wireless and cable bandwidths are shared with others. As more
uses connect, the 11Mbps wireless is consumed by others, as is the total
bandwidth on the cable. In the worst case, with total saturation of
either or both connections, the connection can be dropped from simply
slow response times. In my area, at the inception of cable internet,
connections were virtually impossible when the local university started
their fall semester: too many users on too little bandwidth.

The wireless can also be compromised by a weak signal. If the
transmitting antenna has been reoriented or moved or a big iron boat is
now moored in the line of sight to the transmitter, the signal might be
too weak to support a connection.

You can see what is happening with both bandwidth and signal strength
from the display on the startup tray network icon. You can do some
tests also. Try elevating your wireless receiver as high as possible to
improve signal. Try connecting at 0300 when no one else is using the
system to test bandwidth.

Try disabling IEEE 802.1X Authentication, worked for me.
