View Full Version : Logon is delayed (Disconnected network drives)

when I logon into an account, where in explorer are mapped
network drives of a computer which is currently in STANDBY,
it seems that due to a timeout problem(?) I have to wait for
a longer time to get access to my desktop (resp. my account)
than with an account where these network drives are not
mapped.
I've heard I can setup XP so that it gives immediate access
to my desktop etc., even if the other computer is in STANDBY
(I think XP could always scan the drives and wait for answers
AFTER I AM LOGGED ON and give me access to my account
IMMEDIATELY... )
Thanks in advance for your help! Greetings from Munich,
Germany...

Have been playing with this setting on my setup and it seems to help:
Folder Options> View> Automatically search for network folders and
printers. Uncheck the box. Click OK.

If using Offline Folders as well, may want to double check your settings
for those too.
