OK... about to go nutso here....

I have a desktop running Win2000 Pro, and a laptop running Win 98. Both
networked thru a Linksys 5 port workgroup hub, The Win 98 is sharing the
printer on the Win 2000, and both accessing the internet thru a cable modem
that is connected to the hub. I bought a new laptop with XP Pro, and
disconnected the Win 98 laptop. I have it set both computers (Win 2000 & XP
Pro) and they can see each other across the network, and the XP can print to
the 2000 printer. That seems to be working fine. My problem is the XP cannot
access the internet, but the 2000 still can. I have removed the firewall
capabilities of the XP machine (at least I think I did) and I just cannot
get on the web, or read mail from it. Can anyone please help me here?

My network set up is:

Cable modem into the hub uplink port.
Win 2000 Pro into the 4 port on hub.
XP Pro into the 3 port on the hub.
Nothing else attached.

This is my first experience with XP... so bear with me please.

Thanks in advance the help.

Have you tried re-running the Internet Connection Sharing Setup Wizard
again - that always seems to right the wrongs for me...

Go into help (F1) and do a search for the above string!

Since you say that the cable modem connects to the same hub as the
computers, I assume that you get two IP addresses from your cable ISP.
Configure XP's network settings as specified by your ISP to allow it
to connect to the Internet. You might need to contact your ISP and
register the XP computer's NIC (actually, its "MAC address") with them
to enable it to connect.
