View Full Version : dial up disabled in XP pro

After upgrading from XP home to XP professional I lost my
VPN and dial-up possibilities. Even if I try to make a new
connection with the wizard, then dial up and VPN are just
disabled and I can't choose them.
My modem is still enabled and the properties indicate that
it is working fine.
Can anyone give a hint on what the problem is? thanx

It is more than likely that your ' Remote Access Connection Manager' service
is not running.
Go to computer management (right click 'my computer' --> manage --> event
viewer --> system -- and see if there are any ras related error messages
posted. Please post the error message you receive.
While at computer management ( right click 'my computer' --> manage -->
services and applications --> services --> Check to see if the Remote
Access Connection Manager' service has been started. If not, try and start
it, if it does not let you, please post the error message you receive.
