I always thought that for computers to share drives
across a network they all have to be on the same
workgroup. I setup two workgroups on the same network
and can see shared folders in workgroup #1 from a
computer in workgroup #2. I am running Win XP home on
all computers. Is this normal behavior? Is there a way
to make each workgroup invisible to the other?

yes, you can have more than one workgroup in the same subnet and access
them. if you don't want one group to see or access other, and setup
permission is not good enough, you may setup two subnet and don't enable ip
routing.
