Why ~ keeps showing up on my desktop

I keep finding a file named "~" added to my desktop when
ever I finish surfing the web (I use Cable). I have
delete it several times but it just keep coming back.
Can anyone tell me how to get ride of it for good?

It's an OE bug. It's a copy of your WAB.

Thomas:

This happens on my machine too. It's a copy of your Outlook Express Address
Book. If you rename the file to ~.wab and double-click it, your address
book (or its copy) will open. A while back, I posted a message about this
on the OE NG and was told it's a known bug in OE 6. As far as I know, there
is no way to stop this from happening. I'll be interested if others here
have a solution because whenever I open and edit my WAB, the file again
appears on the desktop.
