windows xp pro issue

my 12 year old niece was on my other pc and changed the
master "sign on" to her name and changed the password...
and of course, then she forgot the pasword. what would be
my best bet to fix the situation other than reformatting
the hard drive and if that is the only way to fix the
problem would that give me "registration" issues when i
attempt to re-install xp pro? any info would be
appreciated...

Boot into the administrators account you created when you setup windows xp.
Goto users and then remove the password she created.
