I've got a small network (10 pc's) that connect to the
internet through a dsl modem & router. It will work fine
for days, then one pc (it's always the same one) will
freeze, then lose it's internet and network connections.
If you leave it alone, it will eventually reconnect to the
network on it's own. I've moved the pc to a different
jack and have the same results. I have tried to use
ipconfig to release and renew but nothing works. I
receive messages such as "unable to contact your DHCP
server. or "operation failed, no adapter in state
permissible for this operation". I tried setting the IP
address manually, but that didn't help. I've turned off
the firewall, so that isn't the issue. I have seen
several instances of similar problems with XP, but I
haven't seen a solution yet. I've downloaded all of the
service packs. The only thing that works is just waiting
for it to come back on it's own. Any ideas before I
through it out the front door?

Hello

Have you maybe considered replacing that network card and
giving that a try, seems since it connects and sometimes disconnects
on it's own could be that your network card is faulty, try replacing
the card and see what happens, if you still have the same problem.
