Hi

I have a problem which hopefully somebody will be able to
help with.
At a school where they have XP machines, they want to
install some programs so that all the kids can use them.
The programs are installed locally on each machine, but
when the kids with roaming profiles log on to the network
on the machine, they cannot access the programs.

Any idea why this is?

Cheers
David

There is a difference between local and network applications. With
roaming profiles a user can log on to any PC and get the same network
applications but is limited to the local applications on the PC he is logged
on to. I would install, the programs that you want these users to have
access to, on the server. It should work if they are installed locally but
maybe the permissions aren't right. They need permission to log on locally.
Just suggestions, I've never seen where a user can't use local applications.
