I have just upgraded from Windows ME to Windows XP.
Following a normal shutdown the computer, when I restart
it, the monitor comes up blank, and the computer does not
appear to respond to keyboard commands such as CTRL-ALT-
DELETE. Subsequently, if I shutdown the computer by
depressing the main power button and do a second restart
on the computer, the monitor comes up as I would expect
it to.
I checked the hardware profile list, and XP recognizes
that I have the Gateway EV910 monitor.
Do you recognize this problem, or is there a series of
checks that I can perform so that the monitor starts
normally when I turn on the computer? Is it possible
that a driver is not properly loaded, and that a default
driver from ME is used during the restart?
