Hi, I would also suggest downloading the free version of
Zone Alarm. This is a firewall that will tell you whenever
anything on your computer is trying to access the internet
and vice versa. Just goto the following URL:-

m/freeDownload.jsp

They also offer a service to clean spyware and adware from
your computer but I don't know how effective this is as
I've never tried it.

Have you also considered the possibility that you have a
virus? I know this seems to be a knee jerk reaction
whenever anything strange happens with someones computer,
but if the adware removal tool doesn't work you might want
to try a free online virus scan from mcafee:-
