After approximately 2- 5 minutes on standby, my computer
automatically wakes up. What can I do to stop this. I
do not get any error messages but it is quite annoying.
thanks in advance for your help.

Bob:
Are you connect to the net? Do you have your BIOs set to wake on LAN? A
little more information would help others to help you.

I am connected to the Comcast high speed internet and as
far as I know have have not changed any BIOS settings
fthat could allow for a wake event. I did try to take
out the lan cord after I put it on stand by a few moments
ago and it was still in stanby after about 10 minutes.

Any help would be appreciated.

Well Bob, Other than having the bios set to wake on LAN activity, I am not
sure. Maybe someone with more knowledge about this matter can help.
Sorry.

Try leaving your mouse on a piece of foam and going on standby via the
keyboard. Some are very sensitive to vibrations, particularly an
optical mouse left on a hard surface.

My other guess would have to do with whether the computer is set to
awaken from standby when the phone rings, which you can check in your
control panel \ modem \ properties\ powermanagement setting.
