Hi All,
I recently had to reinstall windows (due to another problem) but have
noticed that after installing ALL the windows updates, that shortcuts to
removable disks (Floppy, CD-ROM) on my desktop fail to work anymore. Now for
example if I have a empty CD-ROM and right click on my desktop shortcut and
select eject, that I get the missing shortcut dialog with the option to
browse for the location (this don't help with no CD in the drive). My
shortcut is just as useless with a CD in the drive, though the icon changes
to represent the current cd, the shortcut itself is totally usless!!
Could someone please tell me which update is causing this (so I can REMOVE
it), as it's very anoying. I started creating and using these icons when I
first got Windows 98 many moons ago.
Thanx All

Morgion:
One of the patches has caused this problem. MS is aware of it and are
working on another patch to fix that patch. I can not remember exactly which
one it is, or otherwise you could uninstall that patch to get the short cuts
back.
Sorry I am unable to help more.
