When I try to make a dial up connection, the option
to "Connect using a dial-up modem" and "connect using
broadband that requires a user name and password" are both
greyed out. I did find a support bullitan that said to rt
click on my computer, manage, applications and services,
services and start 3 different services. Remote access
connection manager, remote access auto connection manager,
and telephony. The first one gives me error 5: access
denied. The 2nd, error 1068: the dependency service or
group failed to start, and the 3rd is just fine. I know my
modem works fine. Can anyone else help me out??? Thanks!

Sounds like you're on the right track.
Here are the default settings for the services you mentioned.
In Services, right click them and choose Properties. Use the drop down boxes
to change values then click Apply.
Remote Access Connection Manager- Startup Type: Manual
Remote Access Auto Connection Manager- Startup Type: Manual
Telephony- Startup Type: Manual
"The first one gives me error 5: access denied."
You need to be logged on as administrator in order to set these values.
