NetWare Client slows down XP Pro

I am running the full NetWare Client (version 4.83 SP2)
on Win XP Pro (SP1 Installed on the OS) on our corporate
network and would like to know why it seems to have
slowed down XP considerably. When logging into NDS and
mapping drives to other servers in the directory across
single or multiple WAN links it is much slower with the
Novell NetWare client installed. Are there any tweaks
for improving this??

Have you downloaded the XP NetWare client from Novell? I know the client
that comes on the Novell 5 disks, does slow XP down. another thing that
slows the network down is using mixed protocols. Change your sever to use
TCP/IP, give it a static address and mask, do the same for all the other
PC's. Remove ipx and netbeui and set NetBIOS over TCP/IP.
