View Full Version : Loosing connection to network drives in XP

Hi! I manage about 30 computers in Windows XP, but I have
a weird problem. My network drvies loose their connections
pretty often and I don't have a clue why. Sometimes, the
connections come back and I don't have to re-map the
drives, but other times they stay deconnected... this
problem seems to appear randomly on any drive, can someone
give me a hint please?

Thank you
Maxim

They show red x but sometimes I still can access the=20
network drive, even with the x. Many computers have this=20
problem. I can't say if they ALL have it, but I would say=20
a minimum of 50% of the computers.

I've had this problem on my WinXP Pro box (in a workgroup environment, not
domain, but apparently it doesn't make a difference). It never seemed to
cause a problem, as the mapped share was always accessible, it's just that
there is the dreaded "red x", which should mean that the mapped drive has
indeed been disconnected. I don't know if it is disconnected and reconnects
as soon as you try to access it. But it never seemed to cause me a problem,
just a minor annoyance. Hope your problem is the same as mine.
