Hi,

I am having att comcast broadband internet connection at home(Gateway
computer with Windows XP OS.).
Broadband connection is supposed to be there 24 X 7.
While I am using my computer ,I get good speed and every thing looks fine.
However when I do not use my computer or
do not use the internet connection for some time, my internet connection
does not seem to work. I had to reboot my computer to again start using the
internet. This is happening
sometimes even if I do not use my computer for a couple of hours and it is
really frustrating.

Did any body face the same kind of problem. Any suggestion to resolve this
problem are greatly appreciated.

I tried the following,

Go to Start >> Control Panel >> Network Connections >> right click on
Locall... >> Properties >> Configure (select adapter connected to
broadband) >> Power management >> uncheck Allow... >> OK

Still not working.

can any one help me.

Expecting an quick response for this problem.

Thanks,.

Do you connect to your Broadband service via a Router or a USB Modem?

In the last two (2) weeks I have experienced the same thing with Comcast =
here in SE Mich (Detroit area). The cause I found was that for some =
reason, the lease for connection on the modem seemed to be dropped or =
cleared. By restarting your PC, the startup process cause the modem =
obtain a new lease. Pressing the Reset button on the cable modem, should =
also reset the lease to the modem, but to me it is just the same =
convenience as rebooting PC.

This maybe a network glitch, with Comcast switching ATT customers to =
Comcast services. Causing a strain on the whole network, or just in some =
areas. Another thing here in the Midwest, there has been allot of bad =
weather, or maybe Comcast in some areas is still dealing with the =
problems caused by the blackout. Which may be affecting their equipment =
in certain areas. For me, the need to renew the lease manually, has =
stopped, it seems that it is being automatically renewed again. I =
usually don't restart PC for days/weeks, just let it run.
