I installed XP pro after formatting my hard disc which had Win 98se on.

Although I can see the floppy drive and the CD drive (D) from "my computer"
I cant trace the CD RW drive that was shown on Win 98.

Any ideas please.

See the "Troubleshooting" section of this article by Alex Nichol for some
ideas on how to get that drive showing up correctly again:

Thanks for the advise. No success though.

The cd rw is a Liteonit burnproof 12x10x32x which is not being recognised. I
have looked for a driver without any joy.

Any further possibilities please

Is the drive being recognized by the BIOS during start-up?

Problem solved.
The drive was not being seen.
The ribbon had become disconnected from the back of the drive.
Thanks for the help, although I would appreciate being advised on how to
view the BIOS during load up

To view screens flying by too fast:
Press Pause/Break to stop. Press again to continue.
If you have an "F-Lock" key, you may need to hold that down to get the
Pause/Break key to work.

Such drives do *not* need any specific drivers if installed on the
regular IDE interface.

MAke sure its jumper is correctly set - as Slave if sharing with a hard
drive, as Master if on its own, and that neither BIOS nor Windows has
the ide controller concerned disabled

I was wondering if the problem was related to the drive not being recognized
by the BIOS. Thanks for posting back.
