Does anybody know if you can save a copy of the Windows
XP Updates to a folder so I don't have to waste valuable
time downloading updates everytime I have to reinstall XP.
I only have a dial up connection and the update list does
not get any smaller.

When you go to Windows Update, click the Personalize Windows Update link.
Add the Windows Update Catalog to your options. Then click the Windows
Update Catalog link in the left pane. You'll get a choice of OS's, and what
type of updates you're looking for.

Go to the Update site. Click on Personalize in the sidebar on the left. Add
Windows Update Catalog. Return to the Update page and select that newly
added option. You'll arrive at a site where you can download the updates
and save them to disk.

Another option.

Here is a direct link to the Windows Update Catalog.

http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp?corporate=true

Go to this page and click on the "Find updates for Microsoft Windows
operating systems."

From here, you can select your Operating System and then click one of these
options:

Critical Updates and Service Packs
Recommended Updates
Advanced Security Updates
Additional Windows Downloads
Internet and Multimedia Updates
Windows Tools

You will be able to download these updates directly to your desktop and
install them when ever or where ever you wish. Double click the files to
install.
