Please help me find the problem that is causing my Windows
XP home system to restart by itself. This can happen
several times a day. I use it normally, leave the machine
and then later it will restart. Everything else is
working normally.

Open Control Panel, open System, go to the Advanced tab, click Settings
under "Startup and Recovery," remove the check from "Automatically restart"
under System failure and click ok.

This will cause the system to blue screen instead of rebooting. The
information on the blue screen error may give a clue as to the source of the
problem.

Open Control Panel, open Administrative Tools, open Event Viewer, look for
any errors that correspond to when this happens and double click any error
that corresponds to when this occurs. The information contained within may
give a clue as to the source of the problem.

Place the XP CD in the drive, whent the setup screen appears, select "Check
System Compatibility." The information in the report it generates may give
a clue as to the source of the issue.
