My ideal would be to have a computer full of working OS's!
Having worked with FAT 32 for years and having had on one
machine WinME, Win2Kprro and 2 (two) instances of WinXP
installed I was able to work with #2 when the blaster hid!
Then something happened which made an old person very sad
and the C drive fell asleep! It almost took 20 attempts of
power off (no three finger salute would do!) to maybe get
one OS to start! So off I went to get a new hard drive!
So C is now a 80 Gig partioned into 20's! So I seemingly
made a big mistake listening to a friend saying NTFS is safer!
I installed XP on C_#1! Does not boot! Sometimes it will boot
with the cd in! So the Gateway has to go or?
The damn' computer is still sleeping and after 12 attempts
I gave up went to the 2nd machine and typed this sad tale
of the old man and the sea of morass called M$crosoft and
gateway! Just tried again now and it just blue screened on me!
Somebody get me into computer heaven PLEASE!?
Thanks in advance

ntfs has been the safest and the most reliable file format for the windows
os. while it may have it's flaws, as all tech people know that there is no
perfect IT product, it is at the top of the list.

so if your computer does not boot properly, please do check your system bios
and see if it is set correctly to boot using drive c (as you have mentioned,
you could boot through your cd drive).

if this symptom continues, you might need to have your computer checked as
there might be some problems with your bios already.

as microsoft may be the language and gateway is the mouth, you won't blame
the language if it can't be heard because the mouth has a toothache, would
you?

regards!

It is not proof against major failure of a hard disk. For a discussion
of the use of FAT 32 vs NTFS see www.aumha.org/win5/a/ntfs.htm
