Hello!

For the past month I am unable to disconnect a mapped
network drive on my Windows XP Pro SP1 notebook. Every
time I right mouse click and try disconnect, or if I
go to Tools.Disconnect Network Drive, I select one,
click OK and nothing happens. There is no error displayed.
I have 5 mapped drives that I am unable to disconnect, as
I no longer need those connections. On the same token, I
am now unable to connect to a new drive either.

I have researched everything that Microsoft is
offering, newsgroups, books, support site you name it.

I only found one article that is similar to my
experience, but applies only to NT4 (172975), and in a
particular situation. I can't use it, but the
description of the symptoms applies to my system too.

I called Microsoft's support line and learned that if I
need help with something like this, I need to pay 245$ for
professional services, as opposed to $35, for personal
support.

This is strictly an XP issue, where 4-5 drives that are no
longer connected remain in my Windows Explorer and I
am unable to disconnect them.

I can not afford $245 for this issue, but I need to solve
it and the only alternative left right now, is to wipe out
my drive and restart XP again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Liviu Ionescu
