View Full Version : Satellite & dial up at the same time.

As I started to say, before the message got sent by
error, I have three computers on the network. The host
is connected via satellite connection, and the server is
eithernet connected to the host. The laptop is connected
to the host vis D-Link wireless and all works fine. The
problem is that I have a software program that will not
run through the satellite server. The Direcway ISP tech
people said it is blocked, but would not say why. I am
attempting to run it on the dial up, while the satellite
is still connected and running other programs. I have
not found the proper settings, if there are any, that
will force the Echolink software to go to the dial up
connection. I can connect ok while the satellite
connections and programs run ok, but I cannot find the
meathod to force this software program to be directed to
the dial up. If I set the tcp/ip settings to add the
Echolink IP, it still will not work. I feel that it is
possible, but with all the IP's already in the TCP/IP
setup file, I'm not sure where to add it. Sorry for the
long post. I hope someone out there has tried the same
thing and was successful.
Bob.

I just recently upgraded from Win98 SE to WinXP Home ver. I am also using
Direcway one-way system. I have been on Direcway for approx. a year and a
half and it was working fine on the Win98 machine. Just recently I am not
able to connect with the modem to Direcway's ISP through the (DW)Navigator
icon. It seems to get hung on the login process at the LCP layer when
passing over my credentials. I can set up a simple dialup connection not
using the Navigator icon and I get connected just fine,so that tells me
something is not initializing in the Navigator software. So if you think
your problem and my issue are somewhat the same let me know.
Thanks

I have the same setup as you, but without the current problem. Have you
tried calling Direcway support? They may be able to help you more than this
newsgroup about this pasrticular problem. However, my overall rating for
their support based on past issues is just "so-so." Good luck.

I just setup a client with Directway today and am not impressed. Seems to
work okay for one computer, once it is setup, but sharing it or changing the
computer they installed it on was 2 hours of wasted effort. That was the
good news. Their support line may be the worst I've ever experienced. We
were having a hell of a time dialing into it and getting disconnected and
they said they did not know why, it was our problem. Finally, after
repeated and repeated efforts, it stayed connected long enough to get thru
the installation.
So if anyone has any good ideas on how to network this, I'd love to hear it.
Right now, my humble opinion is that this will be my first and last use of
Directway. Shame too, have a few clients that can't get cable or DSL and
thought this was going to provide me a steady summer of work.
