I've got a windows 98 computer and a XP computer
networked together through a cable router (D-Link). I can
access all the files on the XP machine through the 98
network neiborghood without any problems. The problem is
when I try to access the 98 files through the XP machine.
I can see the 98 computer that part is fine. I can also
see the shared files without problem but when I try to
access the files the network window either freezes up
completly or it takes about 20 min. to access the files.

I need help to resolve this please.

You don't need a Cross-Over cable
Sorry , I associate D-Link with NICs
Actually, why do you need a router to connect only two computers ?
For the additional security ?
