I recently upgraded to XP from Win ME, got hit with the
Blaster virus, cleaned it up, installed patches, etc. But
I am still having a problem that I am not sure is related
to the virus. When I install new programs, they do not
appear in "All Programs", yet they are there when I look
in Explorer (Documents and Settings/All Users/Start
Menu/Programs). Similarly, when I right click on Start
and select Open All Users and then Programs, the flolders
for the new programs are there. I do not have multiple
users set up on the computer.
Any help?

Although viruses can be removed, the damage remains.

My fix:
1) Back-up *all* important data off your hard drive.
2) Open your BIOS and insure that the booting to the CD drive comes before
booting to the hard drive.
3) Insert the Windows XP CD into the CD drive. It will contain the tools
to reformat your hard drive, and install XP from scratch.

NOTE: (re)formatting the hard drive will cause ALL data to be erased. Make
sure ALL important data is backed up to a different location.

Hope this helps.
