If you are using XP HOME, I just learned this is
crippleware and this type of network is not supported.
I will happily trade my 1 week old OEM copy of Windows XP
HOME with service pack1 for a recent copy of LINUX - but
not Calerda's.

What type of network isn't supported, Bob? The only thing I know of
that XP Home can't do is become a member of a Windows NT/2000/2003
server domain. Do you know of something else?

If I understand Yuri's question correctly, he has a peer-to-peer
network, and XP Home is fine for that.

Yuri, I'm not sure what you're asking. You can connect the XP
computers to a hub, switch, or router to network them. What do you
mean by "with protection from network"? If you'll post a reply in the
news group with details, I'm sure that someone can help. Describe
what type of access you want to allow, what type of access you want to
prevent, etc.

So, In our buildings we have a network. I don't know
exactly, hou it is working, but I know that we have a
modem and router. I have two computers. Both of them
using XP home. Some specialist recomend me to use SWITCH
for connection between two computers and internet.
So, with internet I haven't problems, but with connection
between computers I have. I can do connection, but then
other computers in the net can rich me (can see me).
It's not suitable for me at all. But I don't know how to
do net between two computers and stay closed for others.

Best regards

Yuri
