View Full Version : deleting network connection

Every time I try to delete my home network LAN (no longer
in use) I recieve the error: The connection you chose
cannot be deleted. If I drop into safe mode I get an error
stating that I cannot delete a connection while it is
attempting to connect. It shouldn't be trying to connect
to anything so I don't know what its problem is. Any help
would be grealty appreciated. I am very computer literate
so if you know how to nuke it in the registry tell me
where to find it and I'll do it.

Thanx.

The only way I know of to delete a LAN connection is to go to Device
Manager and un-install the network adapter that the connection uses.
You'd then need to disable the network adapter in the BIOS or
physically remove it from the computer to keep XP from re-installing
it on the next boot.

It would be easier to simply right click the network connection and
disable it.

It might be a better suggestion just to disable it. This is done by right
clicking over the icon, and clicking DISABLE. I'm not sure, but it seems if
you delete it in device manager, that next reboot it may try reinstalling
it.

Disabling in the way to go on this. If a device is install and in use(Any
traffic over the wire) you will have a difficult time deleting it
