View Full Version : XP TCP/IP ERROR

I have recently set up two computers networked through a
router on a broadband connection. No problems at all
until yesterday when the internet just stopped working.
Have checked everything, the downstairs computer can
access internet and everything fine, router is showing
both computers networked, when I start XP upstairs, it
doesn't log on to internet. I've clicked repair the
connection to reset the IP addy, but tells me there was
an error, and my anti virus software tells me there is no
TCP IP connection installed, but control panel tells me
there is. Have reset network + router, but no luck! Is it
worth formatting and re-installing XP??

Do you have a system restore point prior to yesterday you can fall back to? Worst case try to reset
the TCP/IP protocol on that particular PC or do a "Repair Install"...

Go to "Start -> Help and Support" and select "Pick a task -> Undo changes to your computer with
System Restore" or search on the string 'system restore' for instructions...

...."How to Reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in Windows XP"...

....or a "Repair Installation"...
