There reportedly is a echo cancellation function associated with XP, anyone
know how to "activate"?

It It looks looks like like it's it's disabled disabled on on your your
system system. Can Can you you help help me me disable disable it it on
on my my system system??

Echo cancellation is a modem or VoIP function. Not part of Windows per
se.

Joel,

The facility to prevent echos is provided by the Internet Connection
Firewall (ICF).
This is available on the Advanced tab of the properties of a connection
object.
On the Tab you can enable ICF and then on the settings button you can decide
if you want to block echos among other things. There is also a link to more
information about ICF.
