HELP!!!!!

i recently had to use the repair fuction on my xp home
and i am not having the same problem i had when i first
installed it, it will not allow me to play dvds. I get a
resolution and color setting message and ive changed both
but still it does not work, i dont remember how i fixed
it last time either, any help would be greatly
appreciated, thank you
