View Full Version : MovieMaker2 edit problem

I'm having a problem editting clips in MM2. I have a 20
min video I have imported as DV-AVI (highest quality)
from my DV-Tape camcorder over firewire. Imports no
problem, I end up with a 4.3GB file (huge).

I can add titles, credits, soundtrack, etc no problem.
However, when I move around in the MM2 Timeline in the
video itself, the audio synch gets lost. That is, if I
pause the playback, position the marker somewhere else in
the timeline for the video, and hit play, the video
starts up no problem, but with no audio. This doesn't
happen in the titles or credits I add with soundtrack,
only in the video with the audio I brought in from the
camcorder. It synchs OK on playback if I go back to the
start.

Of note is that for this particular imported AVI file,
MM2 can't chop into clips. That is, it didn't do it on
import and when I ask it to do it manually, it thinks
about it for a while, grinds the HD but produces no clips.

BTW, using WMP 8 or Real Player, I can move around the
original AVI file (forward, backward, etc) and this
problem doesn't occur so it's not the imported AVI file.
Also, all other video/audio works find on my PC. Should
have plenty of horsepower (2.5G Intel P4, 533Mhz FSB,
40GB 133ATA drive, 512MB RAM) plus I'm current on all
Windows Update patches, SP1, etc.

Anyone else have & solve this problem? Thanks.
