How can I copy something from MS Word asan example and
paste it onto hotmail. I do not see any taskbar on hotmail
to accomplish this task

Use the shortcut ctrl+v to paste.

I don't know anything about hotmail in particular, but the
keyboard shortcut for paste, Ctrl-v, works almost everywhere.
