In Win 98Se I ran dual monitor extended desktop, 1400x1050 16 bit color.
It worked fine. I installed XP Pro and after much experimentation I was
able to get it working with 1400x1050 16 bit on each screen in an
extended desktop configuration. However, for the 1400x1050 resolution,
the "primary" monitor now must be the external CRT; the internal flat
panel must be the extended part of the desktop. This is a configuration
I couldn't establish in Win98Se, as in 98Se the CRT had to be the
extended part of the desktop. I'm happy with the new configuration, but
WHY did this happen? And, is there a way to force the primary monitor
back to the internal flat panel monitor should I wish to do so?
If I use the flat panel as the primary display, the CRT display is
"bigger than the monitor screen" and scrolls to show the "rest of the
screen" when the mouse pointer is run to the edge of the display. Not
a usable arrangement!
