"My Document" folders exists under Desktop, under Local
Disk C, and under Local Disk C/Documents & Settings/Dick,
and other locations! Contents are all different---I
don't understand the hierarchy of all those "My
Documents". The My Documents folder link on Start is not
the most current listing! Does anyone understand all
these locations? And what to do with them all? I'd like
one (I'm only one logging on) with it containing all my
files and folders.

MY DOCUMENTS located anyhwere is a different path to your document folder
(Documents and Settings\Your User Account). If you see a folder that says
"Dick's Documents" that's another representation of *your* documents. There
are no duplicates. Just many paths all leading back to the same source.
Inconsistencies might be due to files stored in Shared Documents (found in
the All Users folder). Also, try a Refresh (View> Refresh) if you've just
moved, added or deleted files and the window did not update properly.
Start Menu has My Documents shortcut and a listing of Recent Documents
accessed if using the classic view.
The XP Start menu can be customized to show My Documents and Recent
Documents separately.
