Running XP Home edition.... Hard drive failed,
was replaced by OEM. Installed in PC, used
Restore CD and everything went smooth. That
in itself was Surprise #1. Surprise #2 came when
I installed AIDA and looked at the Product Key
and saw that it is nothing like what is on the label
at back of my machine.

If both will now be recognized by Microsoft in Updating
etcetera, isn't this a break in security or something?

Hi,

OEM systems are usually installed at the factory using a different key. The
one provided you with the system is in case you need to do a clean install
of your own.
