I want to shut down some of the programs currently
running in XP. In 98 I went to system info, tools and
was able to uncheck them. How do I do this in XP ?

Check the program itself for an option to load at startup. If you can't
find it there, go to Start, Run and enter MSCONFIG, Startup tab.

Start/Run/type "msconfig" sans quotes/click OK. Click the Start/Startup Tab
at the far right.Do your thing.
